So that the roof frame lasts, do this!

Any architect will definitely prioritize making the roof frame durable before the rest of the house is beautified. The logic is simple, if you turn it upside down, the rest of the house is good while the roof often leaks, of course this is a problem that spreads everywhere. For this reason, efforts to maximize the quality of the roof, including the frame, must be prioritized.

There are various materials for making roof frames. But currently, the most popular are light steel and wood. Wood has long been used as a frame, while light steel is an innovation that has only become trendy recently.

Both wood and light steel clearly have their own advantages and disadvantages. However, in general, wood is still more desired by Indonesian people.

Are Wood Frame Roofs Susceptible to Pests?

Wood can give a more beautiful impression to the house. Apart from that, this material is also stronger to support heavy types of roof tiles. But of course this material is not without drawbacks. Compared to light steel, wood has a certain degree of vulnerability to pests (depending on the type of wood). So when using it as a roof frame, construction, or whatever, special tips are needed.

Here are 3 main tips that you can try.

1. Selection of appropriate wood

Choose wood with good pest resistance. This is important because pest attacks on the frame are very difficult to identify. Prioritize wood such as teak, mahogany and the like.

2. Preservation

Preservation treatment is a treatment carried out by infusing preservatives into the wood. A variant of preservative medicine consisting of insecticide and fungicide is impregnated so that the wood is not attacked by pests (pests can even die when they come into contact with the wood). This treatment function is very important and we recommend it. In this treatment, use a wood preservative that is good but does not harm the occupants of the house.

3. Finishing or Painting

That's right, the roof frame is often not visible to our eyes because it is blocked by the ceiling. However, it must also be remembered that the function of painting is not just to beautify an object, but also to provide protection. A layer of paint will prevent pests from directly attacking the wood. But of course you have to choose a paint layer that is pest-resistant, especially mold-resistant (fungus likes to live in paint layers). So, use a fungicide mixture in the paint material.

So, only with the three steps above can you enjoy a durable roof frame that you can rely on.
